I have written about how to make your children like reading , now I would like to give some tips how to teach child to read or how to help kids read.
These information are based on my experiences in teaching my child to read. There are many theories in teaching child to read, I just write the information that I have applied for my kid. If you have any other tips, please share it to me in the comments below, I would love to because I might be practicing it for my other kid.
1.Stimulate motor nerves and sensory nerves
First of all, the fundamental step is stimulate motor and sensory nerves to your kid. There are many advantages and it is very good for your kid if you make this stimulation. You can search the information about the relation of both nerves and preparing kid to read. I do not explain those here.
You can perform such fun activities including kicking, striking, crawling, throwing, jump rope, brisk walking and so on for stimulating motor nerves.
And you can stimulate sensory nerves with activities like touching, hear a calming sound, observing object, washing board, squeezing object and so on.
2.Read books to your child and read loudly
Read a colorful book that contains fascinating pictures for your kid. Talk with him interactively, for example asking some questions while reading such as: “what color is this three?”, “what is dog doing?”, etc.
3.Sit with your child in a comfortable atmosphere in order to get good feel , not get any pressure.
You can introduce letter to your child through such activities like making play dough letter, creating letter craft, typing letter in Microsoft powerpoint, and so on.
4.Teach your child one letter per day.
Besides making letter craft and so on, you must make sound of that letter, then your kid see the letter and repeats the sound.
Teach lower case letters first and then capital letters. Teach all of lower and capital letters, one letter per day is enough.
5. Combine reading and writing.
Teach your child writing along with reading. This activity is very useful for the understanding of letter so that your kid remember the letters by heart.
6.Merge vowel with consonant.
After remembering the letters by heart, you can combine vowel with consonant or/and consonant with vocal.
For examples:
Go , So, On, so on.
