I have found some parents who decide homeschooling rather than put their children into public schools. There are many reasons why they choose homeschooling. There are different reasons among them.

Several reasons parents choose homeschooling are below:

1. Costly Public or private school
There are some parents who have this motive. You know that nowadays we encounter high rate of inflation while our incomes do not increase. As a result, they feel the school fees is very high. Finally they decide to homeschooling their kids.

2. Religious belief
There are some parents found it is difficult to get a suitable school that is compared to their religion or their belief so they decided to homeschool.

3. Peer pressure or victim of bullying
There are numerous parents who decide to homeschool because of this reason. Their son has a syndrome caused by bullying. They do a treatment to his son and chose to study with their children at home.

4. Problems with schools not supporting their kids when needed
They are not happy with the school system. They already have suggested some system improvements to school but they do not get a positive response. They conduct research on other schools and the result is the same as the current school. Finally they switched to homeschool and now they are very happy because they have customized learning to what the kids and parent feel best.

Actually there are many more reasons why they are turning to homeschooling, but I find that the four reasons above are the reason that I found most.

How to prepare homeschool?

1. Design the ultimate goal.
You must have discussions with your children. Things that are discussed is what should be achieved from this homeschooling activities. Ask your kids about the orientation of their studies, whether he wanted to be a researcher or scientist, businessman, working in the arts, and so on. Why this is important? Because there are different emphasis and treatment among those goals.

example:

-If your child wants to be an entrepreneur, I think aspect that are emphasized in homeschooling activities are:

how to make decisions, prudent money management, communication skills (listening, speaking, writing, making presentations, negotiating, and so on), cooking, budgeting, outdoor activities, market day, and others.

-If your child would like to be a researcher or scientist, perhaps aspect which are emphasized are:

learn how to learn, how to get useful information, how to perform a research, working with computer-based technologies, computer programming and algorithms, doing experiments, and others.

2. Meet with homeschooler community
Before you start homeschooling, you must join homeschooling communities in your area. You can ask questions about everything related to homeschooling, so you and your child feel ready to run homeschooling. There is more useful benefit when you join the community, you can share skills and socialize with others.

3. Develop curriculum
After knowing your final destination and determine all matters related to homeschooling, then you have to develop lesson plan per year which can be divided into monthly or per week. Choose curriculum that matches your goals.

Once you are ready with everything, then start homeschooling. Organize the portfolio, create performance indicators, lastly perform analysis and review what you have accomplished.
